-the fact that something is separate and not connected to other things

• I can't think about it in isolation, I need some examples of the problem.

2. deprivation 缺失;缺乏 (N.)

-a situation in which you do not have things or conditions that are     usually considered necessary for a pleasant life

• They used sleep deprivation as a form of torture.

       他們把不讓人睡覺作為一種折磨人的手段。

3. commitment 奉獻；承諾 (N.)

-a willingness to give your time and energy to something that   you believe in, or a promise or firm decision to do something

• Players must make a commitment to play for a full season.

       隊員必須保證參加整個賽季的比賽。

This song means that we tend to stay in the shallows of the world, but dare not go to the longing sea. Maybe it's the fear of going into the unknown, maybe it's the hardship of getting out of your comfort zone, or maybe it's something else that's holding you back.

Three words I learned:

1. void (n.) 空虛感

-a feeling of unhappiness because someone or something is missing

They tried to describe their attempts to fill the void left by their son's death.

2. hardcore (adj.) 信念堅定的

-describe people who strongly believe in something

He is a hard-core party members.

 

3. crash (v.) 撞(車)、撞毀

-If a vehicle crashes or someone crashes it, it is involved in an accident, usually a serious one in which the vehicle is damaged and someone is hurt.

Her brother borrowed her motorbike and crashed it.

The reason why I like this song:

This song gave me courage when I was lost, and encouraged me not to be afraid to face challenges and not to shrink back. 

Every time I listen to this song, it always makes me very touched and makes me move forward bravely.

Topic: Prison for the winter

Summary:

This story focuses on the adventures of a homeless man trying to get himself arrested so he can spend the winter in jail, so he can escape the cold of the streets.

Comment:

We can think of this story as Murphy's Law.
At the end of the story, Soapy experiences a sudden change of character, a revelation or epiphany which transforms his understanding of his place in the world.
Only by having devoted all of the stories to trying to get himself arrested that Soapy finally succeed in doing so when he stops wanting to be arrested and recovers the desire to make something of his life.
